Lords Of Twilight   Subject 11   The Dampness Of Mourning   The Men Upstairs

Selected eBook titles from DarkFuse's imprints will be pre-released through Amazon for the Kindle. On publication, these same titles will be released to other platforms such as BN's Nook, Apple's iBooks, Kobo, as well as others.

Although the majority of DarkFuse imprint titles are currently available at Amazon for Kindle, selected titles will be chosen to be released 90 days in advance of their true release dates, exclusive to the Kindle.

If you own a Kindle and have a membership in their Prime program, you can borrow these titles for free in advance of their release dates, as part of their Kindle Owners' Lending Library

These titles are also available to purchase from Amazon 90 days before their actual hardcover, book club, paperback or general eBook release dates.

Due to this change, we will extend an offer to current Delirium digital book club members for a pro-rated refund if they choose to take advantage of acquiring pre-released titles.  But first I wanted to clarify the differences between subscribing to the book club and either purchasing pre-releases through Kindle or borrowing them for free if you're an Amazon Prime customer...

Delirium Book Club Digital Membership vs. Buying Or Borrowing Pre-Releases

The only way to get DRM-free eBooks of any DarkFuse imprint release is directly through DarkFuse.  This is important for the simple fact that it is truly the ONLY time you own the eBook.  If you buy through Amazon or other retailers, you're getting an encrypted digital rights managed eBook that cannot be used down the road on any other device, except the one that it is encrypted for.  So if you decide you'd like to switch from a Kindle to an iPad (or vice-versa) and collaborate your current eBook library to the new device, it's not going to happen.

DarkFuse eBooks are DRM-free.  You own it, you can convert it for personal use to other formats to fit other devices.  And, in the coming years, you'll see more commercial software on the market to allow this to happen quite simply.  There is already Calibre which is a great tool.

If you're buying a pre-release through Amazon instead of the book club, then you'll be paying almost twice the book club rate.

If you're borrowing for free the eBook as an Amazon Prime customer, you're truly only checking it out and must return it.  You don't own it.

Also, and most importantly, this pre-releasing of titles is an experiment and may not continue.  What is does for our authors is gets the work on the market faster, to a wider readership for more exposure, and they earn royalties for books sold and even borrowed during this time.

Now the downside for book club members is that Amazon requires exclusive rights of distribution for the 90-day period.  Which means DarkFuse cannot distribute these titles in any manner until the 90 days is up.

My feelings on Amazon remain unchanged and are well-documented. In a perfect world, the best way to support a publisher and its authors is direct, but this, unfortunately, isn't a perfect world.  The majority of DarkFuse's eBook sales come from Amazon and in talking with my long-time authors, the pre-releases were determined to be an experiment worth trying.  Because eBooks are the new mass market edition and it all comes down to greater exposure and readership for DarkFuse authors.

We now have 4 titles that have been currently pre-released and have a section on the site you can check:
